6: Defining "At-Will" Employment
On January 6, 2021, our nation experienced one of its darkest days. A violent insurrection happened on our Nation’s Capitol, leaving five people dead and numerous people injured. (Source: CNN) As we continue to learn and gather more information about that awful day, many people have been arrested, lost their jobs, and may face fines and other punishments resulting from their participation.
Except for Montana, every state in our Union has “At-Will” employment laws in place protecting both organizations, companies, and small businesses, as well as their employees. These laws protect both parties. As you navigate toward whatever position is next for you, it’s essential to know your rights and your employer’s rights regarding “At-Will” employment.
In this episode, I will break down the information about “At-Will” employment and share a personal story where I exercised my rights as an “At-Will” employee. “At-Will” does work both ways, but you must be careful and protect your brand and reputation in the process.
